Shop Mechanic


This position will be tasked with assisting the Shop Foreman with the oversight of the company’s fleet maintenance and shop functions providing continuous support to the business to ensure a smooth operation.


·         Assist Shop Foreman with daily duties

·         Check-in/check-out of various equipment and supplies to and from crews on a daily basis

·         Providing service, repair, and preventative maintenance for tools, vehicles, and equipment

·         Maintaining a sufficient inventory of shop tools, equipment, and other supplies/assets

·         Assist with recording and accounting of inventories on a periodic basis

·         Maintaining a clean and organized shop building, yard, and surrounding premises

·         Assist with maintaining fleet compliance with all OSHA and FMCSA regulations

·         Other duties assigned as needed


Most work will be performed at the shop or on the grounds surrounding the shop.  Candidate must be willing to perform occasional work offsite, possibly in inclement weather, as needed and be capable of performing physical labor including lifting a minimum of 50 pounds. In addition, a ‘fire department’ mentality is imperative in maintaining consistent inventories and sustaining a fleet of vehicles, tools, and equipment that remain ready for work with little notice.


·         High School Diploma, G.E.D. or Equivalent

·         Display current knowledge of FMCSA and DOT Regulations

·         Live within one hour of shop location (Waynesburg, OH)

·         Valid Class A CDL with clean driving record preferred

·         Reliable transportation to and from work

·         Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening as well as background check

·         Ability to multi-task and efficiently organize/prioritize tasks

·         Scheduling and completion of preventative maintenance for entire fleet of vehicles and equipment

·         Ensure equipment and vehicle inspections are performed consistently 

·         Capable of openlycommunicating ideas and problems

·         Must come to work promptly, consistently, and on-time

·         General welding knowledge including stick and MIG welders (certification not required)

·         General knowledge of electrical functions concerning hand tools, extension cords, etc

·         Minimum two years’ experience on both diesel and gasoline vehicles and equipment and/or training/education as automotive technician

·         General knowledge and experience with small engine maintenance and repair

·         Heavy equipment experience preferred (bulldozer, loader, skid steer, tele-handler, etc.)

·         Legible handwriting skills

·         Exceptional organization skills

·         Willingness to fully cooperate and participate in open communication with subordinates and superiors

·         Capable of technical problem solving

·         Willingness to work well with others and keep an open mind

·         Openness to constructive criticism and other suggestions

·         Must possess willingness to be held accountable for one’s actions

·         Dedication to fulfill role to best of abilities in order to advance the company and personal goals

·         Supervisory experience a plus


Success for this position will be measured by the ability to fulfill the above responsibilities at a minimum without repetitive follow-ups or setbacks.
